Abstract
The European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD) provides data on many alcohol and drug related variables collected simultaneously in 26 European countries. With a few exceptions data were collected at the beginning of 1995. The target age group was students born in 1979, which means that the students were 15-16 years old when they answered the questionnaire. The surveys were conducted with a standardized methodology and a common questionnaire to provide data that were comparable between countries. A main goal of the ESPAD project is to provide comparable estimates on alcohol and drug consumption among students in Europe.
